What it is
AI or Real is a daily browser quiz that asks you to tell real photographs from AI-generated images. Each day presents 10 new photos; after every guess you see the answer, the detail that gives it away, and how other players voted.

How to play
For each photo, decide whether it is a real photograph or an AI image, then choose AI or REAL. Lock in your answer to reveal the correct result and the tell that exposes the fake. After finishing the day's set, you can compare your score with players from other countries.
Tips
- Check hands and fingers carefully — incorrect finger counts are still a common giveaway.
- Look at background text and signs; AI images often include text that almost reads as words.
- Examine reflections and mirrors to see if they agree with the geometry of the scene.
- Compare light and shadows to make sure all shadows point away from a consistent light source.
- Pay extra attention to background details — AI models often spend less effort there than on the subject.

Is AI or Real free?
Yes, the game is free and requires no account. Your streak and stats are stored on your device.
When does a new puzzle appear?
A new set of 10 photos is published every day at midnight UTC.
Can I play older puzzles?
Yes. After a puzzle runs, it moves to the archive with all answers and photo credits. The endless quiz also serves photos from earlier puzzles in random order.
Where do the real photos come from?
Real photos come from open libraries such as Openverse and Wikimedia Commons, licensed CC0, public domain, or CC BY. The photographer is credited after you guess.
Which AI models are used for the fake images?
Several current image models are used so you cannot learn the style of just one. Many AI images are prompted from descriptions of real photos in the same set, so the subject alone does not reveal the answer.
