Privacy Policy

You can browse and play without an account. If you sign up, we keep your email, a public handle, and what you rate, save, comment and submit. Card payments go straight to Stripe. We don’t sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
newindiegame.com is run by SKALDOS LTD (company number 16999133, registered office Office 16963, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA, United Kingdom), which is the controller responsible for your personal data. Contact us at contact@newindiegame.com.
2. What we collect
- Account. Your email address and how you sign in. If you use Google or Discord, we receive your email and basic profile from them, never your password.
- Public profile. A handle, made from the start of your email address when you sign up. It appears next to your comments. You can change it on your profile page.
- Activity. Your ratings, saved games and comments.
- Submissions. The game details you send us and which plan you chose.
- Payments. For paid plans, the plan, amount, date and Stripe’s payment reference. Stripe collects your card details and billing information directly; we never see your full card number.
- Technical data. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to run and protect the site. With your consent, Google Analytics also records which pages you visit and how you got there.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account and show your ratings, saves and comments. This is needed to provide the service you asked for.
- To review, publish and deliver your submission and paid plan, take payment and issue refunds. This is needed to fulfil our agreement with you.
- To send emails you need: sign-in links, confirmations and password resets. We don’t send marketing email.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations.
4. Who processes it for us
We use these providers to run newindiegame. Each only gets what it needs for its job.
- Supabase: sign-in and our database (hosted in the United States).
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Cloudflare: storage for game images.
- Stripe: payments, refunds and fraud prevention.
- Resend: sending account emails.
- Google Analytics: anonymous visit statistics (see section 5).
- AI models via Vercel AI Gateway: drafting game pages and articles. They receive game information, such as a game’s public page and the details in a submission, not your account data.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK and EU. Where they do, they rely on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses. We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser’s local storage to remember your light or dark theme and your cookie choice. These are needed for the site to work as you expect.
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. Its cookies are only set if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Until then, Google receives only basic, cookieless signals about page visits, without anything that identifies you or your device across visits. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We don’t use advertising cookies, and we’ve turned off Google’s advertising features.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete your account. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually six years. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting providers.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Email contact@newindiegame.com from your account’s address and we’ll respond within a month. Deleting your account removes your ratings, saves and comments. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
8. Children
newindiegame accounts are for people aged 13 and over. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.
9. Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
