What it is
Psychic Sidekick is an asymmetric two-player game about running a fortune-telling booth. One player is the fortune teller and the other is a spirit in the spirit world who can see things the fortune teller cannot. The two cooperate silently, using signals to answer customers' questions. It can also be played alone as the fortune teller.

Editor takes

“Winning 1st of 157 jam entries with only two roles and a crystal ball shows impressive polish, though the 9-day scope means there's not much beyond the core gag.”

“A few-minute sessions and full touch/stylus support make it a great commuter pick-up, though it's a quick round, not a deep time sink.”

“The rules are refreshingly legible and the aha comes from reading a friend's drags as deliberate signals, but the short rounds leave little room for layered puzzle depth.”

“There's no upgrade curve to calculate, so the only metric that matters is whether your sidekick's signals land before the crystal uncharges.”
How to play
The fortune teller charges the crystal ball by rubbing it with the mouse or touch, then clicks an answer before the ball is fully uncharged. The spirit sidekick clicks or drags on the screen to signal information to the fortune teller. The game is recommended with online co-op on two devices.
Tips
- As the spirit, use clear, repeated clicks or drags to emphasize important clues.
- As the fortune teller, keep charging the crystal ball while also reading the customers' reactions.
- Agree on a simple signal system before starting, such as yes/no gestures.
- If playing online, both players should be on separate devices with a stable connection.
- In solo mode, focus on managing the crystal ball charge so you don't run out before answering.
