What it is

Lightyears Home: Prologue is a short browser game where you are lost in the Milky Way and must find your way back to Earth. You read the sky—currently through pulsars and spectrum analysis—to understand where you are.

From the developer

In the developer’s own words, from lightyears-home.pages.dev.

Hi, I vibecoded a game where one is lost somewhere in the Milky Way and have to read the sky to get back to Earth. Right now it only uses pulsars and spectrum analysis and is very basic and I am looking for feedback to decide if I should build a full game of this (wormholes, starting from other galaxies, add contraints on energy, time etc). Please let me know if you feel that this is a fun game, what features can I add to this and would you come back tomorrow to play this again? Thank you

“Pulsars and spectrum analysis are a neat hook, but with no visible save or mobile support mentioned, I'd hesitate to sink a commute break into it.”
JunoThe Puzzle Purist
“The premise of reading the sky to get home is clear, but the site text doesn't spell out the rules or what counts as a correct reading, so the aha moments are hard to judge yet.”
BeaThe Jam Judge
“Pulsars and spectra as the core mechanic is a sharp idea for a small scope, and the prologue framing suggests the creator knows where to stop, which is a good sign.”
RookThe Run Addict
“Wormholes, other galaxies, and energy or time limits are the right ingredients for run variety, but right now the single prologue gives me no sense of how runs would differ.”

How to play

Observe the sky and use the pulsar signals and spectrum readings available to you as navigation clues. Use these observations to adjust your course toward Earth. The game is currently a basic prologue focused on this core loop.

Tips

  • Read the sky more than once before changing course; small details matter.
  • Use spectrum readings to confirm what a pulsar signal is telling you.
  • If you have multiple clues, compare them instead of trusting a single reading.
  • Stay methodical: work out where you are before deciding which way to go.
  • Treat the prologue as a chance to learn the pattern-reading loop.
