What it is
Shape of You: Crossing is an interactive fiction game about Manuel González, an out-of-status software developer who takes work with a company that places his mind into women's bodies for paid assignments. The story follows his jobs, his shifting sense of identity, and the line between who he was and who he becomes.
From the developer
In the developer’s own words, from soytg.itch.io.
You are Manuel González. Twenty-five. Software developer from Guadalajara. Your H-1B visa just expired, your job just evaporated, and you have twenty-eight days before the country you built a life in sends you home with nothing.
Then a friend mentions Shape of You Inc. A company where they put your mind inside someone else’s body. Women’s bodies. For money.
The work is legal, regulated, and pays better than anything you’ve ever done. You attend medical appointments women can’t face. You sit through custody handoffs with abusive exes. You deliver breakups. You hold grieving boyfriends through the night. You lose someone else’s virginity so she doesn’t have to be afraid of her own.

Somewhere between the seventy-five women whose skin you wear and the bartender who pours your mezcal and asks the right questions, you stop being the man who walked in.
The crossing isn’t the border. It isn’t the gender. It’s the line between who you were and who you’re becoming. And it gets thinner every day.
Shape of You: Crossing is an open-world adult interactive fiction game about consciousness transfer, embodiment, identity, and the most dangerous thing a person can do: understand someone else from the inside.
Built in Twine/SugarCube. First person. Present tense. Every body a lesson. Every job a life. Every night, a choice: who do you go home as?
Editor takes

“A first-person, present-tense Twine story that turns bodyswap into a meditation on borders and selfhood—the bartender details make the setting breathe.”

“It runs in the browser, so it's easy to pick up between tasks, but as an in-development open-world Twine story I'd want a reliable save system before making it my commute companion.”

“With AI-assisted graphics and a palette I can't fully judge from a text-focused build, I'm hoping later versions give the bodily transformations a stronger visual signature.”

“For a small-scope Twine project, turning 'seventy-five women' into an open-world hook is ambitious, but the 0.0.x releases feel like a promising prototype rather than a polished final game.”
How to play
Read the story from a first-person, present-tense perspective and make choices at key moments. Your choices shape how Manuel handles each job and how his identity develops over the story's timeline.
Tips
- Consider each client's situation carefully before choosing how to respond.
- Think about the emotional consequences of each job, not just the pay.
- Pay attention to the people who question Manuel's choices; they may matter later.
- Replay with different decisions to see how identity shifts over time.
- Read the text closely, since small moments may carry weight.
