What it is
Krashout is a fast multiplayer car soccer game that combines elements of TagPro and Rocket League. Players drive small cars around an arena, bumping, boosting, and drifting to get the ball into the opposing goal. It is designed to work well on poor connections and supports ranked, casual, and private games.
From the developer
In the developer’s own words, from ball.krashout.io.
Hey HN, I built this after looking for an easy to pick up game with a deceptively high skill ceiling - something we could play at remote friendly end of work drinks. I ended up with something in between TagPro and Rocket League. I was particularly interested in making it playable on poor and patchy connections, so spent a bunch of time on prediction, especially around player-to-player collisions. Each game runs in its own Cloudflare Durable Object near the players in an attempt to minimize average room latency. There’s ranked (using Glicko-2), casual (bots fill empty seats), private games you can share with a link, and some basic stat tracking. No sign up needed to play: WASD to drive, shift to boost, and space to shoot. Lemme know what you think and please share any and all feedback!
Editor takes
“Boost and drift feel tight and the car-on-car bumps land with real weight, but there's no getting around the steep first-hour learning curve.”
“Jumping into a private game is one link and zero signup — great for a quick break — though the WASD-only controls mean this one's for desktop, not a phone.”
How to play
Drive with WASD, boost with Shift, and shoot with Space. Use boost to gain speed and drift to turn more sharply, then hit or shoot the ball toward the opponent's goal. In casual matches, empty spots are filled by bots; ranked play uses Glicko-2 and private rooms can be shared by link.
Tips
- Use boost to close the gap on the ball, but don't drain it so you can't recover on defense.
- Drift to reposition quickly when the ball is near the goal instead of making wide turns.
- Shoot to clear the ball from your own half or take a chance on goal when you're close.
- Keep an eye on other players; collisions matter, so avoid being bumped off course.
- Play defensively if your team is already attacking: position between the ball and your goal.
