What it is
ことば橋 (Kotoba Bridge) is a browser-based word-physics game. You type a Japanese word of 2 to 8 characters, and those characters become the bridge that a line of vehicles tries to cross. Each passing vehicle tests how long the word-bridge can hold.

Editor takes
“Perfect for a quick break: type a short word, watch vehicles roll over its letter-shapes — but I'd love attempts saved between commute sessions.”
“Clear rules and a neat causal hook: 2–8 characters form a bumpy bridge, and the aha is seeing how glyph shape decides the collapse point.”
“Tiny idea, tidy execution: the word is the bridge, the vehicles are the load test, and small touches like replay and share links make it punch above its size.”
“Each word builds a different bumpy bridge, so the pursuit of a heavier vehicle is a genuine one-more-run hook, and instant replay keeps the loop tight.”
How to play
Enter a Japanese word of 2 to 8 characters and press the button to build the bridge. Vehicles then cross in order, from a bicycle up to a house, and you watch how many make it before the bridge fails. If it breaks, try another word or replay the result.
Tips
- Try words of different lengths: a short word makes a shorter bridge, while a longer word spans more distance.
- Pay attention to the shapes of the characters, since the bridge surface is bumpy and the way letters are arranged affects stability.
- Remember the vehicle order: bicycle first, then trucks and heavier objects, so later crossings are the most dangerous.
- If the bridge breaks early, change one or two characters and test again to see how the word choice changes the result.
- Use the replay and stop functions to see exactly where and why the bridge gave way.
