What it is
Hiku is a calm logic puzzle about numbers that jump and subtract. Each number's value determines how far it moves, and equal numbers vanish when they meet. Four new boards appear daily, playable in the browser and in the iPhone app.
From the developer
In the developer’s own words, from hikupuzzle.com.
I built Hiku: numbers jump their value onto another number and subtract. Equal numbers disappear. Clear the board. Four daily difficulties. Free in your browser, no account needed.
Editor takes
“Four fresh boards a day in the browser or iPhone app is exactly the pick-up-and-play commute fix I need, no account fuss.”
“One elegant rule — jump your value and subtract — stretched into four daily difficulties and a clean app; that's tight scope discipline.”
“The rules are beautifully clear and the parity traps sound like earned aha moments, not guesswork.”
“Four fresh boards a day give me a reason to return, but once they're cleared I'm left craving more runs.”
How to play
Choose a number and jump it by its own value so it lands on another number. The number it lands on is reduced by the jumping number, and if two equal numbers meet, they disappear. Clear the board to solve the puzzle.
Tips
- Each number's value is also its jump distance, so larger numbers cover more ground.
- Watch for equal numbers: landing on a number of the same value makes both disappear.
- Think before jumping—some moves can make the board impossible to solve.
- Use parity and equal-sum reasoning to spot traps and avoid dead ends.
- Start with today's easier board if you are new to the mechanic.
