What it is
Grave Misfortune is a top-down stealth-action game made for GBJAM 14. You play a grave robber forced to dig up the dead and steal their treasures while avoiding patrolling guards. It uses a pixel-art, Game Boy-inspired look and can be played with keyboard or gamepad.

Editor takes
“The arrow-key controls feel tight and responsive, but the half-hour playtime leaves barely enough room to see whether the early stealth difficulty curve stays fair.”
“It's a solid half-hour grave-robbing loop, but I'd need more variation between runs to keep me digging after the first clear.”
“For a 10-day jam game, the grave-robbing stealth twist is cleverly explored, and it clearly earned that #1 spot, but browser-loading and pathfinding hiccups show the polish limits.”
How to play
Move with arrow keys or WASD, and use the interact button (A/Enter) to dig graves and interact with objects. Avoid being spotted by guards while you work, and use the environment to stay out of sight. The browser version is available, but the desktop build is recommended for best performance.
Tips
- Watch guard patrol routes before moving into a new area.
- Start digging only when guards are far enough away to give you time to escape.
- Use movable objects to block sight lines, but be careful where you place them.
- Learn the graveyard layout so you don't get cornered with no way out.
- If you're unsure about a path, pause and observe enemy patterns before acting.
