What it is
8-Shooter Vendetta is a first-person shooter made for Finnish College Jam #11. You play LUMINANT BULBIO, consigliere to QUICKSMOKER BOSSMAN, sent to deal with a half-blind schmuck across the street. The game is an unfinished dev build with cutscenes, voice acting, and a deliberately rough style.

A first person shooter game, featuring cutscenes, excessive quantities of unlabelled drinks, some awful voice acting, and a questionable style, made for Finnish College Jam #11.
You play as LUMINANT BULBIO, a light-bulb headed Consigliere to your boss, QUICKSMOKER BOSSMAN. Take a wild guess as to where his nickname comes from.

One fine day, Boss has decided that some HALF-BLIND SCHMUCK across the street has to be "dealt with". What did this Schmuck do? Why is Boss so offended?? Why are YOU the one dealing with this???
Oh. Right. A friendly reminder, questioning the Boss' decisions are against the Code. Perhaps.. you should simply stay quiet for now.
PLEASE NOTE; This game is NOT finished, and still lacks some polish and additional features.
DISCLAIMER About the game itself; Doors are currently a bit wonky ingame right now, you MAY have to shoot at them to get them to open. Additionally, i didn't have time to add wandering and chasing to enemies, so they just kinda.. stand there.
Sorry :c
About the build; For some reason, the Release build of my game will ALWAYS crash IMMEDIATELY upon trying to leave the main menu. I couldn't find the cause of this, and, for some reason, the Development Build functions flawlessly.. So, that's what i've uploaded here. The Dev Build. This could cause lag and or some issues, i dunno, i'm still not too used to Unity and what each of it's settings does :P
About the future of the game; ..i AM currently working more on this, however i have no idea when i'll release an update :3
CONTROLS WASD to Move LMB to Fire R to Reload C to Crouch
(didn't have time to give crouching a use lmao)

KNOWN BUGS Doors, as mentioned in the DISCLAIMER , are wonky :P Sometimes you can walk thru them, sometimes you can't, and i don't know why XD
Dialogue & Subtitles in the Job Information scene are offsync, and because the subtitles control moving to the next level, there's a chance that the cutscene will end abruptly without finishing the dialogue :(
Sometimes the NPCs will talk over themselves, cutting off their own dialogue .w.
My little sister informed me that one of the enemy voicelines sounds concerning.. It's meant to say "I'm gonna GUT you!!", but she heard "I'm gonna TOUCH you!!", which is highly embarrasing, as i didn't realize how much it sounded like that until i thought about it after she told me.. Oops. Just uh keep in mind that the intention was for it to sound like "GUT", not "TOUCH" XDDDDDDDDDDDDD
The ending scene where the return to menu button is, for some reason just.. has no mouse?????????????????????????? I don't even know HOW i did that, something about me duplicating the main menu and replacing some of the buttons and repositioning the camera disabled the mouse, so you can't even click the button, forcing you to ALT+F4 T^T
MISSING FEATURES I wanted to add drinking to the game, as a secondary means of regaining health, instead of just sitting around and waiting for regeneration to save you, but i only thought of this idea when i as already out of time to work on this, so i sadly couldn't add it :<
Another thing that definitely would have been nice, as proved by the afterparty stream and my cousin lmao, is that there probably should have been a Crosshair, y'know, for aiming.. I had so much fun testing the game that i neglected to even consider how difficult aiming without it can be for others XD
Also would have loved to add moar sound effects and dialogue to the cutscenes, such as the scene that shows the main character for the first time, an
Editor takes

“Shooting doors open instead of walking through is a speedrun tech I didn't ask for, and with enemies that just stand there the real challenge is fighting the wonky build, not the mobs.”

“It's a few minutes and it won the jam, but until there's more than one way to play I'm not sure the second run changes enough to keep me hooked.”

“The noir setup and Bulbio-Bossman dynamic are more memorable than most jam games, but the self-aware awful voice acting and abrupt cutscene cuts undercut the tone.”

“The lighting and unlabelled drink props sell the noir vibe, but the offsync dialogue and overlapping voices are an audio mess only a jam deadline could love.”
How to play
Move with WASD, fire with the left mouse button, reload with R, and crouch with C. Work your way through the short level, shoot enemies, and deal with doors by shooting them if they don't open. Crouching currently has no gameplay use.
Tips
- Shoot stuck doors if they don't open; that's expected in this build.
- Enemies don't chase you yet, so you can approach and line up shots.
- Reload with R when your magazine runs low.
- Keep moving and use WASD to avoid standing in the open.
- Don't expect polished AI or cutscene timing; it's an early jam build.
