Editor takes
“The reroll and locked-pick mechanics make each decision a clean tradeoff, but the simulation's inner logic is opaque, so the aha feels more like luck than earned insight.”
“Full Game, Offense Only, Classic and Gridiron IQ give the loop angles, but an empty leaderboard at launch means the long-term chase has no immediate proof of life.”
“It sets up the undefeated season as a story you build in your head, yet the writing stays plain, so the atmosphere never matches the roster drama.”
How to play
Each round presents a team, an era, and a list of eligible players. Players select one player to fill a roster spot, balancing offensive and defensive needs. The game emphasizes tradeoffs—whether to prioritize a star quarterback or shore up a weak secondary. Once the roster is complete, the game simulates the season to see if the team can achieve a 17-0 record.
Tips
- Think like a general manager: a balanced roster with fewer obvious holes outperforms a collection of famous names.
- Consider positional fit and defensive answers, not just offensive star power.
- Decide carefully when to use a reroll, as some positions are harder to fill than others.
